New German Cinema

Movies

Links to the movies:

Alice in the Cities (Wenders, 1974)

Marianne and Juliane (Von Trotta, 1981)

The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum (Von Trotta/Schlöndorff, 1975)

(We’re not watching Katharina Blum together, but it’s also about the Baader-Meinhof Gang if you are interested in seeing more. Also, I ordered a DVD of another movie, from 1977, called Germany in Autumn, also about the turbulent 1970s in Germany. It’s a collaboration with several directors including Fassbinder. I think maybe we can watch it at Bryant Park Junior on an off-week this summer.)

Fox and His Friends (Fassbinder, 1975)

The Tin Drum (Schlöndorff, 1978)

Aguirre, the Wrath of God (Herzog, 1972)

(This movie is also available on many free services like tubi, but with ads.)

My Best Fiend (Herzog, 1999)

(Also available on tubi with ads.)

It Is Not the Homosexual Who Is Perverse, but the Society in Which He Lives (Praunheim, 1971)

Supermarkt (Klick, 1974)
